Join us for an exercise class or one of our many social activities. Daily exercise classes to get your blood pumping include our Walking Club, Tai Chi, Chair Yoga, Broadway Burn, and our ever-popular Zumba class. As for social activities, we have so many clubs to choose from. Love to sew or quilt? Join our quilting club, which meets every Monday under the guidance of quilting expert Alison Rogers. If knitting or crocheting are more your thing, we have a knit and crochet group that meets every Thursday morning. If reading is your passion, we also have a book club that meets bi-monthly. If you just want to meet new people without the pressure of an activity, visit our sugar hollow café, grab a cup of coffee and chat with others. We also hold monthly social parties. Come dance to some music or meet up with friends. No matter what, it’s a fun time!
If game shows and trivia are your thing, join us for our monthly Trivia on the second Friday of every month. Hosted by our program coordinator Matt Austin, this always proves to be a great afternoon for all involved. Team up with others as you compete to answer trivia questions about anything and everything! Trivia is sponsored by Highbridge Healthcare, who provides wonderful prizes for the winning team each month.
For many seniors, this is also the Medicare Open Enrollment period. Medicare Open Enrollment happens from October 15 – December 7, and it is the time each year when you can make changes to your coverage. The changes you make during Open Enrollment are effective January 1 of the next year. What plan you have and what benefits you receive might be confusing but let us help! On staff we have Tamires Dasilva, the municipal agent for the City of Danbury. She can help you navigate all your choices. We are also lucky to have two Medicare Specialists from the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging taking appointments on November 18, 21, and 24. Those spots fill up fast, so call for an appointment now.
As the holidays approach, so does our annual Holiday Raffle. This raffle helps raise money for all the programs we put on during the year. This year, tickets can be purchased at our center starting December 1. Tickets are 10 for $5. The raffle will be pulled at our annual holiday party on December 10. The winner need not be present to win. We have over 30 incredible prizes this year, including gift certificates to local businesses, holiday gift baskets, passes to local attractions, and so much more! Stop by for more information.
