It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year at the Elmwood Hall Danbury Senior Center
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Nowhere is that more evident than at the Elmwood Hall Danbury Senior Center. Come shake off the hustle and bustle of the holiday season with some of our special programs.
December brings our annual holiday sing-along on Monday, December 9. Grab your friends and come belt out holiday tunes while sipping hot cocoa at this fun event. No signing ability is required! Speaking of music, on Tuesday, December 10, our new twice-monthly Music Talk Club debuts. This club is a spinoff of our ever-popular Sports Talk Club. Come chat about some of your favorite music from yesterday and today. Maybe you’ll find new artists to add to your listening rotation!
On Tuesday, December 17, join Synergy Homecare, in association with Villages at Brookfield Commons, for an afternoon of gingerbread house making! They will bring all the goodies; you bring your imagination! The following day, December 18t our program coordinator Matt Austin will lead a reader’s theater version of the classic movie “It’s a Wonderful Life,” at which YOU can play the roles. While he and another actor will take on the roles of most of the residents of Bedford Falls, this interactive program will allow those who would like to try their hand at acting to do so. No experience is necessary. Join in or just come and watch. Either way, it’s going to be a good time.
We will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Our regular programming continues on all other days in the upcoming month. We kick off 2025 on Thursday, January 2, with a Lunch & Learn program on making the most of your retirement money. Maria Xavier from Edward Jones will start with the first of her monthly financial education programs scheduled throughout the next year. Attendees will learn investment strategies to help build a plan to last throughout one's retirement years. In addition, you'll explore how to address key concerns such as inflation, healthcare expenses, and market volatility, as well as ways to prepare in advance for things that may not go as expected.
It’s a musical for a few months here at the center, as we also bring back karaoke on Monday, January 6, and a lecture from CCSU professor Stephen Armstrong on the music of the 1950s and 60s on Tuesday, January 7. The long-awaited return of monthly trivia happens Friday, January 10. Grab a team and test your knowledge!
