A Message From The Danbury Fire Department

The Danbury Fire Department is continually monitoring the developing COVID-19 crisis and is taking the precautions necessary to mitigate the spread of the virus in our community.

We have made subtle changes in the 911 call center relating to our computer-aided dispatch and dispatch protocols, with an enhanced screening of EMS calls.

When residents call 911 and say they are ill, the caller will need to answer the following questions:
Have you traveled recently and if so, where?
Do you have flu-like symptoms or a fever?
Have you had a recent operation that would result in feeling ill?

No matter what your answers are, first responders will come and assist you. Please do your best to give the call taker/dispatcher all the answers truthfully so we can triage the call and send the appropriate resources.

If you report any potential COVID-19 symptoms, first responders will enter your home with protective equipment, including gloves and masks. We would prefer (if possible) someone meet first responders at the front door to explain the nature of the emergency. We also ask that if there is no threat to life or safety, patients and bystanders should try to maintain the recommended six feet of space from first responders.

As an additional precaution for the health and safety of our first responders, we are closing our Fire Station offices to the outside public.

These precautions enable us to safely continue to serve and protect our community.
