Center for Pediatric Medicine Expands Office Locations to Improve Availability for the Community

When choosing a pediatrician for their children, most parents expect to find a practice in which they feel comfortable and that can provide high-quality, and comprehensive medical care for their little ones and youth.

For over three decades, that has been the Center for Pediatric Medicine’s priority. Now, they have added more openings to accommodate their patients' needs.

The Center for Pediatric Medicine (CPM) now offers extended hours to its patients at its

107 Newtown Road location after 5 pm when that office closes.

“Center for Pediatric Medicine now has 17 experienced providers. We have a pediatric team of experts which includes doctors, PAs, APRNs, lactation consultants, and nutritionists. As the chief administrative officer of the Center for Pediatric Medicine, I am proud to work alongside all of CPM’s team members. Each team member gives 100% dedication each day,” said Matthew R. Carreira.

For Dr. Ana Paula Machado, CPM’s president and owner, the addition of a new location at 83 Sand Pit Road will also provide patients with more options.

“When they call and they need an appointment, they will be asked which office they want to go to. If they need a same-day appointment, they can choose which office has one available.”

Drs. Pushpa Mani, Krissy Satchi, Aparna Madisetty, Jen Handau, APRN, and Pam Barrett, PA, formerly affiliated with Childcare Associates, have joined CPM.

Dr. Machado believes that efficiently running the practice by incorporating CPM’s methods will increase the available slots for visits. “They are excellent doctors who were being underused. Just by finding better workflows, they can see more people and open opportunities for the patients to have visits.”

Extended Hours for Established Patients Only:

CPM is open evenings until 9 pm from Monday through Thursday, until 5:30 pm on Fridays, Saturdays from 8:30 am – 2 pm, and Sundays from 8:30 am – 1 pm.

“We encourage you to book your annual wellness visit. We are open 7 days and have 4 office locations,” said Carreira.

Becoming a Patient:

According to Dr. Machado, to become a patient, you must transfer your previous pediatrician’s records and immunization records to CPM.

“If you don’t have that, if you are a new immigrant, whatever documentation you have for immunizations from the past, needs to come to our office, and once we have that, we must establish a first appointment which should not be on those late nights or weekend hours. Then, when you have had that first appointment you are a patient, and you can get any of those [appointments].”

Very often when there are questions, phone calls are a very important part of their service.

“If you call and you get to speak to one of our providers, you get to talk about what is going on with your child, and in every conversation I have, the parents feel much calmer; they are reassured about what is going on. I am talking about an illness that does not need urgent care so we can advise you on what to do and set up an appointment time.”

“Occasionally, the conversation results in ‘yes, you should go to the emergency room,’ and we let the emergency room know this person is coming.”

Why CPM?

“The reason to come to us is hopefully there is good patient experience from the organization of how we get people in and out to absolutely the care that they get.  I have done my best with the help of all the people around me that I have been blessed to have to be able to coordinate that experience,” Dr. Machado concluded.
