The Lebanon American Club of Danbury commemorated the twentieth Annual Lebanon-American Day on Sunday, June 26, with a flag-raising ceremony at Danbury City Hall.
At the City Hall ceremony, the Lebanon American Club officers and members were joined by keynote speaker James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute in Washington, DC, along with CT Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Thomas J. Saadi and Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito, to mark twenty years since the first Lebanon American Day ceremony in Danbury. They also recognized the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Lebanon American Club of Danbury.
“We are privileged to live in this great country, which provides us the freedom to celebrate our Lebanese heritage, to honor those who came before us as immigrants to this land and to recognize the century of contributions that the Lebanon American Club has made to the Arabic speaking community and the Danbury community at large,” said Commissioner Saadi, who is a Lebanon American Day co-chair, along with Joseph Walkovich.
A traditional Lebanese luncheon was hosted for 60 guests at the Lebanon American Club following the ceremony.
