Our annual partnership with the AARP Foundation for Tax Assistance services continues through April 15. The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides tax assistance to anyone, free of charge, with a focus on taxpayers who are over 50 and have low-to-moderate income. You don't need to be an AARP member to use the service. You must make an appointment with the senior center. Appointments are available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am-12 pm each day. Appointments fill up fast, so we suggest reaching out as soon as you can for an appointment.

The wildly popular Memories to Memoir workshop starts March 4 and continues through April 8. Writer Beth Young will lead the group through a series of writing exercises to finally get those memories you’ve been wanting to pass down to generations to come.

Bethe will also be bringing her theater class to our center.   Join us in learning the basics of theater from the ground up. From writing your own play to acting and directing, Beth will lead you through exercises and games to help your creativity flow. No experience is necessary!

If creating arts isn’t your thing, come listen to some artists. Singer/songwriter Billy Michael will be joining us on March 20 for a concert of favorites. Billy’s repertoire includes The Beatles, James Taylor, Willie Nelson, Billy Joel, and so many other classic favorites!

On Tuesday, March 25, Attorney Ann Fowler-Cruz will join us for an Ask an Elder Law Attorney workshop. Ann is a certified elder law attorney with vast experience in estate planning, trusts, wills, advanced directives, and much more. Bring your questions with you to this interesting and informative seminar. This program is sponsored by Danbury’s Commission on Aging.

Don’t forget our weekly exercise programs to get you moving. We offer Yoga, Zumba, Strength Training, Line Dancing, and more.

In March, our monthly blood pressure screenings return. Representatives from Bethel Health care join us on the third Monday of every month from 10:15 am-11:15 am with free blood pressure screenings for all. Also, a reminder that the City of Danbury’s Municipal Agent, Tamires DaSilva, is always on hand, by appointment, to help with social service questions. Whether it’s CT’s Rent Rebate Program, or questions about Medicare, we can help.

Whatever your interest or need is, there is always something for everyone at the Elmwood Hall Danbury Senior Center. Remember, the Elmwood Hall Danbury Senior Center, located at 10 Elmwood Place in Danbury is open Monday-Friday 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Membership is FREE to all those 60+ (regardless of whether you live in Danbury or not). We would love to see you very soon! For more information visit www.danburyseniors.org
