Staying Active at the Elmwood Hall Danbury Center

Entertainer Billy Michael brings his eclectic style and music to the Elmwood hall Danbury Senior Center.
Avoid the April showers and stay active and dry at the Elmwood Hall Danbury Senior Center! All year long, we offer classes and other special events to keep those over 60 engaged and active. We have quite a few special events coming up in the next few months.
In the coming months we are partnering with the City Hall for a few special opportunities. On Monday, April 14, at 1pm, join Donna Murphy and other staff from the Danbury Assessor’s office to hear all about the new Elderly Tax Relief program for residents. They will go over all aspects of the program, including eligibility and what the program entails. They will also answer any questions you may have.
Also, save the date for a special town hall meeting with Mayor Roberto Alves on Friday, June 27, at 1 p.m. Mayor Alves has been holding town hall meetings across the city to hear directly from you, and now he will bring a meeting geared toward seniors and veterans to the Danbury Senior Center.
On top of those programs, we have two other April programs helping you with questions you may have about everyday life. First, on April 10, at 2:30 pm, we will partner with AARP to bring you a presentation on CT Electricity Choices. Many Connecticut residential customers have experienced issues with retail electric choice in the last several years: overly aggressive marketing practices, charging high prices under variable rate contracts, and the current proliferation of fixed rate offers with enrollment and termination fees. Join AARP as they help you navigate these choices and answer your questions.
Second, AAA Northeast will join us on April 23, at 10 am, to discuss DMV Services. MaryAnn Parisi from AAA Northeast will be joining us to share how the Danbury branch can help you with your much-needed DMV services. Whether it is renewing your driver's license, getting a Real ID, or accessing your driving history, AAA can help. Come hear about your options.
On the more fun side, we have a couple of very special programs visiting the Elmwood Hall Danbury Senior Center in April. On Wednesday, April 16, starting at 1 p.m., Spin Doctor Entertainment will bring their mobile Mini-Golf Course to our building. Come enjoy a fun nine holes of mini golf with your friends. Signing up for a time slot is required. Time slots are every fifteen minutes. Free for all members.
On Tuesday, April 22, at 1pm, we will have a visit from Christine’s Critters of Weston, CT. Christine’s Critters, Inc. is a nonprofit whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release birds of prey and other animals. Christine will be bringing a handful of birds, including hawks, owls and falcons. In addition to the birds, she will also be bringing a few reptile friends for us to enjoy. Don't miss out on an unforgettable afternoon of fun.
