RmediA Earns National Award for Bringing the American Dream to Life Through Storytelling
Some people tell stories. Others preserve history.
For more than 25 years, Renato and Alicia Ghio, founders of RmediA, have dedicated their careers to capturing the moments, people, and dreams that shape communities. Through documentary-style filmmaking, they have helped businesses, nonprofits, public leaders, and everyday individuals share experiences that educate, inspire, and endure for generations.
In 2026, their passion for authentic storytelling earned national recognition when RmediA received the Award of Excellence, the highest honor in the 32nd Annual Communicator Awards, for William Tong: The American Dream, a video produced for The New American Dream Foundation honoring Connecticut Attorney General William Tong with its Lifetime Achievement Award. The project was recognized in the General Non-Profit Video category among more than 3,000 entries submitted by agencies, brands, production companies, and organizations worldwide.
The award-winning film traced Tong's remarkable path from the son of immigrants to becoming the first Asian American elected to statewide office in Connecticut history. More than a biography, it explored the values, sacrifices, and determination that shaped his life and embodied the promise of the American Dream.
“At its heart, it's a story about family, resilience, and the promise of America,” said Alicia Ghio, co-founder of RmediA.
Those themes are familiar territory for the Ghios, whose work has long focused on documenting lives that deserve to be remembered. Alicia possesses a rare ability to ask the right questions. Her interviews move beyond accomplishments and titles, uncovering the experiences, challenges, and defining moments that reveal a person's true character.
Renato brings those narratives to life through his camera. His lens captures far more than images; it captures emotion. Whether filming a quiet moment of reflection or a milestone achievement, he reveals how vulnerable, beautiful, resilient, and empowering the human experience can be. Viewers do not simply watch his films—they connect with them.
Together, they form a remarkable storytelling partnership.
Since founding RmediA in 1999, the Danbury-based team has remained committed to a simple belief: real stories move people. Their boutique production company handles every stage of the creative process, from story development and interviews to filming, editing, and final delivery. This hands-on approach allows them to honor each subject with care, integrity, and cinematic quality.
The Award of Excellence and the project's additional Bronze Telly Award recognize more than technical skill. They celebrate a lifelong commitment to capturing stories that might otherwise be forgotten and ensuring that future generations can learn from the people who came before them.
As Renato and Alicia continue documenting history one individual, one business, one venture, and one dream at a time, they remain guided by the same belief that has shaped RmediA for more than two decades: authentic stories have the power to connect, inspire, and transform lives.
“For us, the most meaningful projects are the ones rooted in authentic human stories. Attorney General Tong's story reflects the experiences of so many immigrant families who come to this country seeking opportunity and a better future. We're proud to have helped bring that story to life,” said Renato Ghio, co-founder of RmediA.
