The Connecticut Institute For Communities, Inc. (CIFC) is reopening the Danbury Community Center, located at 12 Boughton Street in downtown Danbury (at the former Danbury YMCA site).

Katherine M. Curran, CIFC CEO, along with Mayor Dean Esposito and Danbury War Memorial Board President Robert Botelho, gathered on Tuesday, June 28, at the Danbury Community Center for the kickoff celebration.

“CIFC is so pleased to provide a community pool to Danbury once again and offer aquatics programming beginning this summer for everyone – from youth to seniors, individuals, and families. Along with the War Memorial, we are pleased to offer the option of dual memberships to both facilities,” said CEO Curran.

The Danbury Community Center facility officially opened to the public on July 1. The Danbury Community Center will begin with offering senior swim, swim lessons, and open swim, eventually expanding into educational opportunities and exercise classes, as well as basketball, volleyball, and pickleball coaching and leagues.

The Danbury Community Center will partner with the Danbury War Memorial, which offers a full-service fitness center, including weights, weight machines, and cardiovascular equipment.

“The Board of Directors of the Danbury War Memorial are very excited about the collaboration with another great civic organization for the betterment of the veterans and of all local families,” stated Board President Botelho.

As part of the Danbury Community Center Grand Opening promotion, all new members during the months of July and August 2022 will have the one-time joiner’s fee of $35 waived.

“Having a community pool in our city is so important for our residents. I applaud the Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. (CIFC) for their tremendous work and commitment to our city. I look forward to furthering collaboration and potential future programming that can benefit all the residents of Danbury,” said Mayor Dean Esposito.

The Connecticut Institute for Communities is proud to provide Danbury with a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides pediatric, adult, mental health, and dental care, along with Early Learning Programs (Danbury and Norwalk) and Affordable Housing. CIFC’s mission is dedicated to advancing the communities and fostering greater opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals and families in its service areas.
