Tonino Baliardo, founder and leader of Gipsy Kings, is an internationally acclaimed guitar virtuoso and composer. He wrote and produced many of the group’s greatest hits, including “Bamboleo” and “Djobi Djoba.” With more than 20 million albums sold worldwide, the group has earned numerous gold, platinum, and diamond records, a Victoire de la Musique in 1990, and a Grammy Award in 2013 for “Savor Flamenco.”
Baliardo has also contributed to major film soundtracks, including “Hotel California” for The Big Lebowski and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” for Toy Story III. More recently, he earned platinum and triple-platinum records through collaborations with Takagi Ketra and C. Tangana.
Having performed in iconic venues such as Radio City Music Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, Royal Albert Hall, and the Olympia in Paris, Baliardo reflects, “Music has no borders and our music is universal.” Rooted in gypsy tradition yet forward-looking, the Gipsy Kings’ music continues to resonate across generations. Family remains central to this legacy, with Tonino joined on stage by his sons Mikaël and Cosso Baliardo since 2014.
