Bringing Hope and Harmony: Helping Kids Experience Carnegie Hall
Katya’s Concerts for Kids, she shares the power of classical music with underserved youth, believing that music can awaken hope and possibility in every child.
This holiday season, internationally acclaimed concert pianist Katya Grineva returns for her 23rd performance at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. Known for her poetic, deeply expressive interpretations, Grineva’s annual “Classical Holiday: Music that Celebrates the Eternal Mysteries” concert promises to fill the iconic hall with timeless beauty—and to inspire the next generation of dreamers.
Born in Moscow, Grineva began piano studies at age six at the Moscow Music School and continued at the prestigious Moscow Conservatory under Professor Pavel Messner. After immigrating to the United States in 1989, she earned a scholarship to the Mannes School of Music in New York City, where she studied with Nina Svetlanova and received private coaching from Vladja Mashke. Her American debut came in 1993 as a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 27, soon followed by her Carnegie Hall debut, where she has now performed more solo recitals than any other female pianist.
Recognized as a Steinway Artist, Grineva has performed around the world—from Salle Gaveau in Paris to concert halls across Asia, Africa, and South America—and released nine celebrated albums, including The Complete Chopin Nocturnes and From Katya with Love. Beyond her artistry, Grineva’s legacy shines through her compassion. Through her nonprofit, Katya’s Concerts for Kids, she shares the power of classical music with underserved youth, believing that music can awaken hope and possibility in every child.
This year, Grineva’s dream is to bring 500 children from underserved communities to Carnegie Hall—to let them witness firsthand the magic of live classical performance and perhaps discover their own calling. “Music has the power to heal, to inspire, and to transform,” she says. “Every child deserves to feel that magic.”
Supporters are invited to help make that dream a reality. A $100 donation will sponsor one child’s ticket to Carnegie Hall, offering an unforgettable experience of beauty, culture, and inspiration. Additional contributions will help cover transportation and family participation, ensuring no child is left behind due to logistics or cost.
Grineva and her team are also working to raise awareness among local schools and community partners, inviting individuals, businesses, and organizations to participate. “Everyone knows someone who would be honored to give a child this experience,” Grineva shares. “Together, we can make it happen.”
