Ann’s Place is seeking individuals facing or who have experienced cancer to participate in a photo shoot for its fundraising event, Through The Lens, scheduled for September. Local photographers will capture images of the participants, who have volunteered to help raise funds for the organization.
“You and your loved ones are not obligated to sign up, so please feel no pressure. All of our services will be available to you regardless of your participation in Through the Lens,” said Shannon Cobb, president and CEO of Ann’s Place.
For participants who choose to sign up:
- You will receive a whole photo shoot from a local photographer, with the option to have hair and makeup done that day at no charge.
- You will receive all digital photos from the shoot free of charge.
- You agree to create a fundraising page to help raise approximately $1,000 or more to support new families needing Ann's Place services.
- You allow Ann's Place to use your image in a traveling art show that will kick off with an evening reception on September 30 at the Heritage Hills Hotel. Your image may be used on the website and in other literature to promote Ann's Place, but it will not be sold or given to outside organizations.
- You will receive two free tickets to the reception.
Bella Rosa Pacheco was one of the models who volunteered to participate in the photo shoot to help raise funds for Ann’s Place.
“I was 39 years old when I received the devastating news that I had tested positive for breast cancer,” she said, adding, “I was heartbroken and felt deep disappointment. I remember crying my eyes out in the bathroom, looking at my reflection in the mirror, and seeing how sad and tired my eyes looked. In that moment, a whirlwind of emotions overwhelmed me: anger, frustration, sadness. But then I felt something different - determination.”
Bella's journey is truly inspiring. Her determination to hold on to joy in motherhood, despite the struggles she faced with infertility for over a decade, showcases an incredible strength of character. By focusing on her faith and nurturing her physical and mental well-being, she uplifts herself and sets a powerful example for others. Her message about protecting happiness and intentionally cultivating peace encourages us to embrace our journeys with hope and resilience. It's a beautiful reminder that, no matter what our challenges may be, finding strength in faith and self-care can lead to profound joy.
“I hope my story inspires you to fight the good fight of faith!”
