Affinity Esports Expands with New 4,000-Square-Foot Studio in Newtown

The Newtown location—alongside Affinity’s existing studio in Milford—aims to support both casual and competitive gamers, as well as those interested in the rapidly growing fields of game development and esports production.
Last month, Affinity Esports Group opened a newly expanded 4,000-square-foot gaming and education studio in Newtown, just in time to host 10 weeks of summer camps focused on video game skills, game creation, and content production.
Located at 27 Glen Road, the studio features more than 20 high-performance gaming computers and dedicated spaces for podcasting, video editing, and private lessons. The upgraded facility is part of the organization’s broader effort to promote community-building, creativity, and career pathways through gaming.

“Our goal with all Affinity Esports programming is to provide young people with the structure and support they need to build real-world skills through the games they love,” said Kate Petersen, director of program development. “From coding and content creation to communication and emotional regulation, our camps go far beyond the screen.”
Affinity's summer programs will run from June 16 to August 22, and include camps centered on popular games and skills such as Valorant, game coding, and video editing. Registration is open online at affinityesports.gg/newtown-camps.
Affinity emphasizes the educational potential of gaming, positioning its programs as a platform for developing teamwork, adaptability, and critical thinking—qualities that align with workforce demands, according to Dr. Roger Caramanica, program chair for Gaming and Esports Management at Post University.
“Gaming is a mechanism that can be leveraged for knowledge and skills development,” Caramanica said. “Today’s industry leaders understand this intersection and are leaning into it.”
Parents of participants have also praised the environment Affinity has created.
“As a parent, finding a place where my child feels not only safe but truly seen and included is everything,” said Wendy Taylor, whose child attends Affinity programs. “It’s more than just gaming—it’s a community.”
