It is a fact that academic achievement increases when parents are involved in their children’s education. In a city as diverse as Danbury, it is fundamental to provide parents (especially when English is not their first language) access to resources that can help and empower them to become involved and be better advocates for their children’s education.

On Saturday, May 14, 2022, parents, kids, community members and local organizations are invited to participate in the free 2022 Early Childhood and Community Resource Fair in Danbury. The event will take place from 10am through 1pm at the Danbury Sports Dome, located at 25 Shelter Rock Lane, Danbury, CT. The venue is sponsored by the School Readiness Council.

The Fair is an opportunity for parents to gain valuable strategies, educational resources, and other important information to support their children’s academic success. Families will also be able to gather information on pre-school centers, family childcare providers, Danbury Public Schools summer learning opportunities, and kindergarten registration. Other non-profit agencies will be available as well.

“The Resource Fair is about bringing the community together for our kids,” said Mini Santosh, director of the Action Early Learning Center (AELC) in Danbury, community leader, and the event’s organizer.

AELC provides childcare services to toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children, with an academic curriculum tailored to prepare children for kindergarten.

To entertain the little ones, and also the adults, fun activities like face painting, raffles, moon bouncers, free books, and many others will be offered at the fair.

The 2022 Resource Fair represents a partnership between the Action Early Learning Center, Danbury Public Schools, the United Way of Western Connecticut, the Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI), and Latinos for Educational Advocacy and Diversity (LEAD).
