Daily Bread Food Pantry Helps the Community Celebrate Thanksgiving

Daily Bread Food Pantry welcomed more than 750 struggling households to its home on Terrace Place on November 20, for its annual Thanksgiving food distribution – setting a record for the forty-year-old organization.

On this sunny but chilly day, spirits were high as every household carried away the fixings of a generous holiday meal including a frozen turkey, an assortment of fresh vegetables, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, eggs, milk, and freshly baked pies, among other items.  A line of guests stretched down the street and around the block for hours and more than 50 volunteers worked outside, undeterred by the cold.

Daily Bread Food Pantry distributes food free of charge to thousands of food-insecure individuals and families in the Greater Danbury Area throughout the year.  Visits to the Pantry have increased dramatically over the past few years and continue to grow steadily along with the agency’s expenses.

“The Pantry would like to thank its team and all the donors who helped make the holidays a bit brighter for the many hungry members of our community,” said Pantry president Peter Kent.
